The Councilor for Public Safety in the City of Lorca, María Belén Pérez, has reported that agents of the Local Police Corps have proceeded to arrest a person for the commission of an alleged crime of robbery with violence.
The events took place on the afternoon of last Wednesday, May 18, in Alameda de la Constitución, when a man approached a woman in a surprise manner and violently snatched a bag from her, with such force that she fell to the ground.
In this way the individual took the bag and fled the race, which is why both Local Police and National Police established a search device to arrest the perpetrator.
Fruit of the operation was the stolen bag without its content on the railway, at the height of the sports courts of the Ramón Arcas Mecca Institute.
Based on all the information obtained and with the help of the citizen collaboration, at 22.30 on the same day, local police agents of Lorca managed to locate and arrest the perpetrator of the events in the area of ​​the Miguel Angel Residential.
The detainee is a 42-year-old man, a native of Nigeria, who has numerous police records for acts of this nature and who, at the time of his arrest, carried objects that could be used to commit criminal acts.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the National Police of Lorca that continues with the corresponding procedures for the clarification of the facts and to verify if this subject can be involved in more facts of a similar nature.
With this important detention is confirmed, the constant preventive / operational work developed by the Local Police of Lorca through the various units in which it is organized and through the monitoring devices that are established throughout the municipality and coordination with the rest of Municipal Security Forces and Bodies.
