More than 60 Lorca at risk of social exclusion benefit from pre-labor workshops given by the City Council and the Murcia Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association (17/07/2018)

Thanks to the implementation of the Socio-Labor Insertion Project (ISOL), participating Lorca acquire, recover or enhance knowledge, work habits and skills necessary to achieve social and labor integration.

The initiatives that are taught in Lorca are: gardening and landscaping, organic farming, computing, Roman mosaics and a course on transversal skills for employment

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, together with the president of the Murcia Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association, Luis Pelegrin, visited this morning the gardening and landscaping workshop, which is taught in the gardens of Mallorca 13 inside of the Rehabilitation and Labor Insertion Program that is carried out thanks to a collaboration agreement, which has been signed since several years ago, between the Murcia Psychosocial Rehabilitation Association and the Lorca Consistory.

Fátima Mínguez explained that "the general objective of this workshop, which is also joined by pre-labor training activities in organic agriculture, computer science, Roman mosaics and a course on transversal skills for employment, is to favor the acquisition, recovery or enhancement of knowledge, work habits and skills necessary to achieve social and labor integration The beneficiaries of this project are people who live at risk of social exclusion and who suffer from a chronic mental illness, so it is worth noting that during the first semester of 2018 they participated in this program 64 people. "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare has indicated that "pre-job training consists of training actions aimed at the recovery, acquisition and maintenance of professional and transversal skills, allowing the acquisition of the necessary habits for the development of a job (capacity of adaptation, labor relations, quality and speed of production, change of tasks, initiative and completion of tasks, compliance with regulations and schedules, etc.). Thus, this training is eminently practical, with an active and participatory methodology and with rhythms and dynamics adapted to the nature of the group ".

Mínguez said that "the contents and tasks that will be carried out in this workshop to achieve the above-mentioned objectives are: an educational program for their beneficiaries to raise awareness about the care of the environment, a theoretical training on gardening, knowledge about the plants and trees of the area, conditioning of the green areas of the garden, training and practice in irrigation systems, as well as their maintenance, basic botany, cleaning and maintenance of transit spaces and park corridors, pruning of hedges and rose bushes, planting, planting and multiplication of new plants, diseases and pests of the garden, elimination of weeds and small palms, and finally, the creation of new garden areas.

The Edil of Family and Social Welfare has stressed that "the Socio-Labor Insertion Project (ISOL) is necessary to be carried out in our city because it is useful, since its objectives are fulfilled and thanks to it, dozens of people get an opportunity At the same time that they participate in society from both the labor prism and the social prism, that is the most important thing and that is the objective of this initiative that gives us such good results and for which we will continue to bet on the benefit that implies for many Lorca and their families.
