IU requires the PP municipal government to remove Puntas de Calnegre from neglect and abandonment (03/09/2018)

Gloria Martin said that the demands of the neighbors are rational and have a negligible economic cost for the City Council, with very little money could have Tips as a "silver cup" because it is the access point to one of the greatest natural treasures what the municipality has

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has denounced the lamentable abandonment suffered by the residents of Puntas de Calnegre, whom the local government team of the Popular Party seems to have completely forgotten.

The inhabitants of the town complain about the serious lack of municipal investments, which is causing the depopulation of this nucleus, in which barely 48 people already live.

Martín explained that his training has already received several requests in November 2016, "about which absolutely nothing has been done".

In that occasion, the mayor of IU-Greens urged the City Council an urgent intervention to put an end to the unhealthy focus in which several plots of land have become converted to their wide rats, snakes and all kinds of insects and which is a source of conflict neighborhoods

Some of them are bounded by walls that threaten to collapse due to their poor state of conservation.

Martín asked the PP government team to demand from their owners the cleaning and conservation of these plots, as established by the corresponding municipal ordinance or, failing that, act ex officio given the threats that neighbors suffer as a result of this claim.

Almost two years later, "everything is as it was", he lamented.

"The neighbors have to hire on their own a staff that is responsible for removing the accumulation of pruning in abandoned lots and that are attached to their homes, to prevent a potential fire from affecting them," he said.

For Martin the solution is because the City Council moves the relevant container placed absurdly in the middle of the beach to a more practical location for the neighbors and for an "exhaustive" control of the status of the lots.

The mayor of IU-Greens also demands that the consistory pay the association that is recovering the town's festivities the municipal subsidy for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. "The Councilor for Culture, Agustín Llamas, not only does not appear head over there, but they do not even pick up the phone, "he said.

The neighbors are having to advance from their pocket the money to be able to cover the activities included in the program of parties, which this year has not even counted on the presence of the Mayor.

"The situation is so surreal that the association, which is also not provided with a venue, has to pay with its own funds for the musicians of the municipal band if they want them to participate in the patron's procession."

Other "unprecedented" events are that the City Council decided to cancel one of the planned summer film sessions or that it did not even send the medals and trophies to reward the children who participated in this year's sporting events.

As if that were not enough, this year the cleaning team that normally supplies the town before the holidays has not been sent, so the neighbors had to pay a tractor driver to pave the way, the soccer field and the place where He set the stage.

Another shortcoming pointed out by the neighbors is that the access road, the RM-D21 is in a desperate state, with accumulation of weeds that hinder visibility.

There is even a tree that is invading the roadway.

The state of the roads that cross the town is not much better, since it is full of sinkholes "that have not been acted on for years," he said.

Neighbors also request the placement of bins and banks near the beach and on the main street, so that those who want to enjoy a walk have the possibility to rest or can serve as a meeting place for seniors.

"They do not even ask that they be new, but rather that the City Council use the ones that have been deposited in the warehouse located next to the Rafael Méndez hospital," Martín said.

They also request the repair of the curb next to the church so that people with reduced mobility can access it easily through a ramp.

In addition, they request that the areas of passage by the sea be respected, invaded by the terraces of some restaurants that completely impede the transit of people, especially on summer weekends.

They also request the placement of portable walkways to access the beach between June and September, as happens in the neighboring municipality of Mazarrón.

"They tell us that because of singing, many people have difficulties to access the points where the beach is already sandy," he explained.

Finally, the councilor of Izquierda Unida regretted the lack of public services suffered by the inhabitants of the town, who do not even have public transport to move to the health center of Ramonete.

"There are very young children, children of immigrants, who have to walk ten kilometers to go and walk back to the doctor," he said.

Therefore, Martin asked that the City Council adhere to the European program 'Interreg TRAM' to enable travel through a taxi service on demand that could also benefit other rural areas without public transport service in Lorca, a promise of PP that has not fulfilled.

Gloria Martín said that the demands of the neighbors are "rational" and have a "negligible" economic cost for the City Council that, "with very little money" could have Puntas as a "little silver cup" since it is the access point to one of the greatest natural treasures that the municipality has.

"It's just about putting interest to dignify the life of the citizens you owe," he concluded.

To encourage the municipal government team to do so, IU will raise a motion to the Plenary with all these demands.
