The Mayor orders the establishment of a special device that remains alert to the notice of heavy rains and hail moved by the State Meteorological Agency (07/09/2018)

Local Police, Municipal Emergency Service, electrical service and other resources of the Consistory will remain mobilized during the next hours to respond to any eventuality.

The Councilor for Emergencies in the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, made this morning an appeal to the public so that throughout the next hours, especially starting tomorrow, Saturday, take all possible precautions given the statement that It has been submitted by the State Meteorological Agency in relation to the high possibility of strong showers and storms registered both in the east and southeast of the peninsula, foreseeing direct affection in our municipality.

Juan Miguel Bayonas has reported that the announcement of Aemet indicates that as of Saturday 8, the progressive penetration from the Atlantic of a DANA (Isolated Depression of High Levels) in the Peninsula is expected;

which, together with the presence of a warm and humid flow from the Mediterranean, will cause a marked instability of the atmosphere in a good part of the peninsular area, with showers and storms, mainly in the east and southeast.

Between Saturday 8 and Monday 10, with the DANA most likely centered on the southwest and the east component wind, the most affected areas will be eastern Andalusia, the Strait of Gibraltar, Melilla, Murcia, the Valencian Community and the eastern end of Castilla La Mancha .

The showers and storms will probably be strong and even very strong or persistent and locally hail.

From Tuesday 11 and for several days the evolution of the DANA presents quite uncertainty, oscillating its position between the south of Portugal, the center and the southeast of the peninsula.

Therefore, it is difficult to specify the affected areas.

In principle, it is likely that on Tuesday the rainfall will be limited to the southern half and center of the peninsula and that, starting on Wednesday 12, tend to generalize to much of the Peninsula and, perhaps also, to the Balearic Islands.

Looking ahead to the weekend, days 15 and 16, most of the predicted scenarios show a weakening of the DANA and, therefore, a decrease in rainfall or, at least, the intensity of the same.

The Mayor of Emergencies has stated that the mayor, in view of the provisions that are being handled, has ordered all municipal services, Local Police, technical checkpoints and the Municipal Emergency Service, to remain alert to respond to any incident that may arise.

From the City Council we insist that in case of any eventuality that you want to move, all citizens have at their disposal the 112 integral attention telephone.

The Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service of our city remembers that the basic advice to act in case of episodes of heavy rains are:

Find out about the weather reports.

In case of flood, locate the highest points.

Settle in a place that is not susceptible to floods.

Move away from gullies, torrents and their bridges.

Do not travel by car if it is not essential.

Do not park on the banks of rivers or in channels of ravines, ravines, torrents and their bridges or near them.

Never cross sections that are flooded, the force of the water could drag you.

Go on preferred routes and moderate your speed.

If you stop because of poor visibility do not forget to sign it.
