The traditional games and the sand castles take the Plaza de España (14/09/2018)

The unparalleled monumental setting of the Plaza de España was the setting for another year of the Day of popular and traditional games of Guadalentín Sports Games that gathered 300 young and not so young participants on Friday afternoon who wanted to add to this fun activity

The goal pursued each year the day of popular games is that for a few hours Lorca children and young people enjoy life-long outdoor games, leaving aside the video game consoles, tablets, phones or computers, and living with others kids of their same ages.

But also that parents and children share activities, are challenged, taught and have fun together.

Between 17 and 19.30 the Plaza de España hosted the circuit for the games of all life that have been enjoyed for decades in the courtyards of the school and in the squares of the neighborhoods.

Comba, plates, line, caliche and spin were once again the protagonists, along with the release of olive bone.

And while teenagers and dads enjoyed this circuit, the youngest were throwing themselves on the sand to build sand castles, since for the third year an artificial beach was created for the children of Lorca to demonstrate how they have learned the art of making castles throughout summer.

Shovels, buckets, showers, molds and rakes were the means that led the participants to surprise with their constructions with the 30,000 kilograms of sand scattered for the occasion.

From the organization we want to transmit once again the gratitude to those who have generously collaborated to make this full day possible: the newspaper La Verdad, the company Aytsa, Municipal Emergency Service, Civil Protection, Fire Department and Limes, as well as the volunteers that are essential to be able to carry out activities like this.
