The rain forced the suspension of the Heavy Lance Tournament that had to be held on Saturday, September 8.
This and other reasons led to this year's XXI City of Lorca Sports Fishing Competition was even more special, since there was desire for this competition that so brilliantly organized by the Sport Fishing Association City of Lorca.
But another reason was added to create an edition for the memory: it was held in the municipality of Lorca, specifically on the beach of the village of Puntas de Calnegre.
After 20 years of being held at the Playazo de Vera this year it was decided that the tournament would stay in Lorca, in a landscape as beautiful as that offered by the Lorca Litoral, which opens a new period in this test that is so welcome in the Region of Murcia and bordering provinces.
From Saturday afternoon until Sunday morning 29 couples from 8 clubs took part in the competition, involving fishermen from all over Murcia, as well as from Almeria and Alicante.
Being good the participation, could have been historical by the number of previously registered couples, but the climatological difficulties during all the day did that many couples of outside Lorca canceled their participation at the last hour to save themselves a trip in the rain.
The precipitations also influenced in the state of the water, since they had been produced dragons from the ramblas;
However, the time at the time of fishing was excellent, without rain and without cold, allowing participants to enjoy a full night of fishing in which, despite the state of the water after the trawls, some good catches were seen that make that the location of Puntas de Calnegre has been accepted with approval and that it be taken into account as a stage for future editions of the tournament.
As is traditional in the event, next to the federated event the Local Open was held in its thirteenth edition, offering the opportunity to the Lorca fans to join this great tournament.
On the morning of Sunday, the lunch was held and the weighing to determine the winners, who received their medal from the Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, who participated in the awards ceremony.
In this ceremony we wanted to have a detail with the three participating women, because in a sport so traditionally related to men, more and more women are seen, which is always good news.
