IU calls for the 'Burial Table' to become a 'Mesa on the railroad' that addresses the global needs of Lorca (07/11/2018)

"We have been hearing since the beginning of the century about a high-speed train that does not reach Lorca while we suffer the consequences of third world commutes in which no government has invested one euro in the last twenty years," the councilor complained. , Gloria Martín

On behalf of the Municipal Group of Unida-Verdes, councilor Gloria Martin has asked today at the meeting of the 'Burial Bureau' that this body becomes a real 'Railway Table' that addresses, from a global perspective, the needs of the municipality regarding this type of transport.

"We have been hearing since the beginning of the century about a high-speed train that does not reach Lorca while we suffer the consequences of a third-world neighborhood where no government has invested one euro in the last twenty years," complained Martín.

"This is the transport urgently needed by the working class and the students," said the mayor, who recalled that thousands of people use "obsolete trains, which suffer continuous breakdowns" every day.

Martín also recalled that the works of the AVE endanger the continuity of the line of commuter C1 that connects Lorca with Alicante.

"We do not know what will happen with the section between Murcia and the Alicante capital," he warned.

In that sense, Martin lamented that "they will force us to use a transport that can not be allowed by the entire world due to the foreseeable closure of said line".

For the mayor of IU-Greens is necessary that the 'Table of the Railroad' also address issues such as the line of merchandise that does not appear in the information study made public by the Ministry of Development, the overpasses that affect the districts of Tercia, La Hoya or Marchena, or the suitability of which Sutullena is the main station of the AVE since it lacks the necessary dimensions to offer the adequate services.

"If we insist on centralizing everything, we can find an infrastructure that will be born small and ineffective," he warned.

Martín also recalled that IU will oppose any burial track that does not include the entire urban fabric of Lorca and that will limit the possibilities for growth in the city.

"We can not allow the AVE to convert workers' neighborhoods into a ghetto constrained by 9-meter-high concrete walls."

Meeting with those affected

For his part, the spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-Greens, Pedro Sosa, announced that next Monday (8:00 pm, at the Civic Center of San Diego, next to the Plaza de Curtidores) his political training will take place a meeting with the neighborhood groups of the neighborhoods of San Cristóbal, San Diego, Apolonia and Avenida de Europa in which members of the pro-burial citizen platforms of Murcia and Alcantarilla will participate.
