The training proposes to promote an information campaign in several languages before the end of the year to facilitate access to voting in municipal and European
Citizens Lorca will present to the next plenary session in November, a motion to facilitate the right to vote held by European citizens residing in the Region of Murcia in both the municipal and European elections, which in the last electoral call accounted for 15,680 voters in the Region .
In total, 1,777,989 foreign Europeans live in Spain, people who form the basis of European identity and whose rights include active and passive suffrage in elections to the European Parliament and in the municipal elections of the State in which they reside.
For this reason, Citizens' municipal groups intend to simplify the access to information of the voting system to the citizens of the Union so that they identify themselves more with the EU, thus developing greater public opinion and political awareness.
In our municipality, there is a population of foreigners belonging to the European Union of about 2,635 residents according to the municipal register of inhabitants, mostly with the right to vote.
The motion proposes to promote a specific information campaign in Spanish, Bulgarian, English and Romanian (in Lorca the majority of the community inhabitants are from these countries) before December 21st.
For this purpose, it is also proposed that an extraordinary budgetary allocation be guaranteed where the financing of this project is contemplated through the ordinary mail, web, signage and means of communication.
Similarly, the orange initiative aims to create a link in the Electronic Office of the different municipalities to integrate the information and the area of enumeration in a clear, useful and in different languages, to comply with the guidelines of the Central Census Bureau Electoral in relation to the vote of European citizens.
It is also requested to enable a link in the municipal websites to facilitate all processes (registration, request of vote ...) related to this issue.
