Lorca will host next January 19 the III Meeting of Rural Professional Women with the presence of more than 300 participants from across the Region (14/01/2019)

The Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martínez, and the president of the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca, Pilar Fernandez, presented this morning the events that will take place in our city on the occasion of the III Meeting of Women Professionals of the Rural Area.

Juan Francisco Martínez stressed that "this conference, in which more than 300 women from across the Region will participate, aims to give visibility to the voice of rural women and encourage their participation to meet the challenge of real equality between men and women. This type of initiative is necessary to continue improving the situation of rural women and create new opportunities, in addition to exchanging experiences, customs and traditions to achieve a mutual sociocultural enrichment ".

The Councilor for Equality added that "the Region of Murcia, and specifically Lorca, are territories whose economy is mainly focused on rural areas.In recent years the increase in the presence of rural women in the agricultural and livestock sectors is Representing a great growth and development engine for the whole Region, since they are generating new opportunities that focus on natural resources, for this reason, from the City Council of Lorca and the CARM we want to recognize the work that these women do every day and offer them new formulas to continue improving their situation and create new opportunities that help them achieve gender equality in all areas and especially in the rural areas ".

Martínez Carrasco said that "this meeting, which this year has as its motto" Sowing future ... collecting opportunities ", will be held on January 19 at the Salons" El Faroli "and is organized by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia in collaboration with the Lorca Consistory, the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca and the Association for the integral development of women in the rural environment "Water and Land", Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Institute for Women and for equality of opportunities, European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development of the EU, Cajamar and La Caixa ".
