The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, accompanied by the President of the Association El Buen Camino, Francisco Martínez, visited this morning the occupational workshops carried out by this association with users residing in their facilities and that are made through an agreement signed between the Lorca Consistory and this entity.

Fátima Mínguez has ratified "our commitment to people at risk of social exclusion goes further through the new agreement that will allow continuity and complete the programs made available for rehabilitation, assistance and collaboration, consolidating Lorca as a municipality In solidarity with those who most need help, this agreement is endowed with a budget of 20,000 euros, the amount of which will be used to develop the occupational workshops carried out by the Association El Buen Camino with the collaboration of the Lorca City Council.

The Councilwoman of Family has indicated that "the users occupy their time in the occupational workshops that are carried out daily as and that have the objective of equipping them with basic instruments that help them find a job and acquire a social and family projection. Activities that are developed are: furniture restoration workshop, gardening workshop, masonry workshop, adult education, health care and nursing and conferences, these actions are carried out from 8 in the morning until 6 pm. The users of the Shelter are looked after by a social worker, an adult teacher, a nurse as well as diverse staff of the center. "

Mínguez has indicated that "the Shelter has capacity for 20 people, although in 2018 it has served 93 people, of which 80% were men and 20% women." It should be noted that the length of stay of users depends The number of people served each year depends on the personal evolution of each user in the development of the therapeutic program carried out by the Association, the approximate length of stay is 6 months, because we understand that in this space of time the person has already been able to project himself towards a job that gives him the opportunity to live with dignity ".

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare said that "the profile of the people who have lived together in the Welcome House of El Buen Camino is very diverse, as they are people from very different backgrounds. with university level, people who have been practicing in their profession, but who, due to one circumstance or another, have ended up in an adverse situation, in addition, attention has also been paid to families that for some reason have lost the house where they lived; people who have been living in the street, people who have followed or are following any type of outpatient treatment and have no place to live, or anyone who lives in a situation of social exclusion.The user is usually a person with an age between 30 and 70 years old ".
