The Specialized Attention Center for Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) assisted 367 women in 2018 and more than 2,000 legal, social or psychological care interventions were carried out.
The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, inaugurated the new facilities that house the CAVI and the Department of Equality of the City of Lorca, and highlighted the "strong commitment" of the regional government with the eradication of gender violence in all the region.
In this regard, he said that since 2017 the budget of CAVI Lorca has increased by almost 70 percent, and this year the Community will invest 156,000 euros in it.
"The CAVI are a basic element in the network of help to battered women, so the first measure that was launched within the Regional Pact of Gender Violence was the increase in the hours of attention of all centers in the Region" said Tomás.
Lorca also has the Psychological Attention Service for Minors Exposed to Gender-based Violence that helped 32 minors during 2018. In addition, the Family Meeting Point for cases of gender violence (Pefviogen), a unique resource in Spain, provided its services to six families so that the visitation regime was carried out in an environment that guaranteed the protection of the victim and the minors.
