The PP of Lorca will not do any electoral act during the Holy Week and will propose that the electoral spaces do not interfere in this celebration (15/02/2019)

The President of the Popular Party of Lorca, and mayor of the city, Fulgencio Gil, has announced that this political party will not carry out any electoral act during Holy Week, with the aim that the campaign does not interfere with the development of the greatest cultural expression , social, tourist and religious of the Lorca.

Fulgencio Gil has also anticipated that the PP will reduce its acts to 5 days, including between the Monday after Resurrection Sunday and Friday of that same week.

"At this point all Lorca know what has happened in Spain, and we are mature enough to have made a concrete idea of the situation. In addition, we are Lorca before any political party and we are aware that Easter Lorca is the most important thing, and all year long we look at the calendar, waiting for Holy Week to arrive, and Pedro Sánchez's occurrences will not prevent us from enjoying this edition. "

The President of the PP Lorca has informed this morning, after knowing that the date chosen by the current President of the Government, Pedro Sanchez, matches the development of the election campaign with the celebration of the most important religious, tourism, social and cultural event of our city, as are our Holy Week Biblical-Passional Parades, which is a "real nonsense" and has stressed that everyone wonders if, really, "there was no other date" that did not interfere with our Holy Week, anticipating that "as mayor I will do everything possible to prevent the campaign from tarnishing our biggest hallmark as a city".

Gil has anticipated that the PP of Lorca, for example, will not perform act of "glued posters" on the night of April 11, coinciding with the Serenade to the Virgen de los Dolores, held by the Paso Azul.

"It does not occur to us to tarnish the great blue night, that night, the blue ones go out to proclaim the arrival of the Friday of Dolores, not the politicians. It's a night for Lorca and we can not allow it to be stolen. "

Fulgencio Gil has anticipated that next Monday will expose the spokespersons of municipal groups this issue, with the aim of reaching a unanimous agreement to propose to the Electoral Board an offer of spaces that respects each and every one of the acts of the different Brotherhoods and Cofradías Lorca.

"We can not interfere in the development of these events, I do not think there is any obstacle to reach an agreement in that sense, since I think we all agree that we would not like to see propaganda banners or electoral posters while we witness our processions or acts, both in the urban case and in our districts.I will also inform the Presidents of the Steps of this situation, to consult any proposal on the matter ".

Gil added that "we will look for alternative sites, we can not allow the city at its moment of maximum tourist impact to be papered with posters dirty the streets. Does anyone imagine that the Steps could not place their pennants because electoral flags had been installed on the Avenida , Calle Mayor Lope Gisbert or Nogalte? Does anyone conceive that the Procession of Silence has to develop in front of political posters and slogans? We can not allow it.Today we already have communication and digital media, as well as neighborhood meetings. these resources, avoiding those that may affect the celebration of Holy Week, which, I repeat, is sacred in Lorca. "

The President of the PP Lorca has lamented that "of 56 weeks that there are a year, Mr. Pedro Sanchez has had to choose to casually campaign at Holy Week and, honestly, I think it is not coincidence." Spanish traditions are something to him and their party, seen the seen, they do not care, well, they have to know that in Lorca the Holy Week is non-negotiable, it is not touched, it does not get stained, it can not be tarnished ".
