Restoration of the Mysteries
Thirty years after its premiere, the tunics and hoods of the 15 Nazarenes around the Virgen de la Amargura have been restored in the workshop Virgen de la Amargura del Paso Blanco.
They were embroidered between 1987 and 1989 on velvet with colored silks and golden threads in canutillo under the artistic direction of Antonio Felices Iglesias and Santiago Cruz Pallarés.
The group that represents the mysteries of the Holy Rosary is divided into three groups differentiated by the color of the velvet and the variations of the Gothic aesthetic over time: purple color the painful mysteries inspired by the primitive Gothic;
in garnet the joyful mysteries in advanced Gothic and in green velvet the glorious mysteries in Elizabethan Gothic.
The marvelously embroidered scenes of the different mysteries of the Rosary are located inside the doors of the pointed arches arranged in the lower and central part of the 15 tunics.
