Fulgencio Gil: "Along with the reconstruction of the neighborhood of San Fernando, today is the happiest day as Mayor.

It is the best news we could hope for.

A company from Barcelona has opted for Lorca, with the immediate recovery of 40 jobs "

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the representative of the Company Committee of the former Coopbox, Francisco González, and businessman Adrián Carreño, announced the purchase of this industry and its reopening with the name of Ecobox Lorca, within a project which seeks not only the recovery of business volume, but its increase with the generation of new jobs.

Fulgencio Gil has stressed that it is a happy day for all Lorca.

Coopbox was an emblematic company of the Lorca industry, immersed in a very complex bankruptcy procedure where the dismissal of practically all of the workforce, its 80 workers, took place.

It was a profitable industry that was dragged by the mismanagement of other plants, so from minute one this City Council, the Autonomous Community and the workers have been working together to find a solution that would allow their doors to continue open

Its purchase and reopening is an excellent news that confirms the industrial potential of Lorca and that opens the door to a new impulse through the synergies that are going to be generated ".

The First Edil wanted to "congratulate the business group that will start Ecobox Lorca, who will invest 800,000 euros and immediately hire 40 people, with the expectation of exceeding 100 workers in the coming months (previously they were 80 ), given the business prospects that the company has in the food trays market.

It also includes an investment to improve machinery in the PET line to be much more competitive in the market.

The objectives of the company are very ambitious and have found the perfect place to grow, Lorca, with the help of a human and professional team that has already demonstrated its efficiency ".

Fulgencio Gil wanted to "congratulate the Works Committee and all the workers because they are an example of commitment and professionalism and they deserved this good news.

We have been with them from the start, working side by side, with the invaluable collaboration of the Regional Government through the INFO, which provides grants, collaborations and the necessary guarantees for the viability of the project.

I also want to congratulate the bankruptcy administration.

Exercised by a Lorca, who has shown a great sensitivity to workers and to this business project so important for our municipality.

"As mayor I want to emphasize that it is a great day for Lorca because 40 Lorca will keep their jobs and another 60 will be hired in the coming months within this project that confirms and relaunches Lorca as an industrial reference in the region of Guadalentín.

The City Council will continue to support these brave Lorca who have struggled to keep their jobs and these entrepreneurs who have decided to invest in Lorca and come with an ambitious business plan that aims to grow the local industrial potential and generate new opportunities and synergies for the economic and productive local fabric ".

The representative of the workers, Francisco Javier González, stressed that "by our side we have not only had a Mayor, but a partner from the start, always on the phone 24 hours a day and maintaining direct contact to collaborate in all efforts that were accurate.

For us, this support has been fundamental. "
