Young people from Lithuania, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Finland and Italy will bring to the table the benefits of an online platform that allows young people to choose and choose learning opportunities based on their passions and interests.

The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce has inaugurated, this morning, the international meeting of "Cities of Learning" (Connected Learning Spaces) that is taking place in Lorca from this Thursday until Sunday.

In this project, funded by Erasmus + with the support of the City Council of

Lorca, participates the Intercultural Cazalla Association, the Department of Youth and partners from Lithuania, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Finland and Italy.

Ponce has welcomed all the participants that during these days will be able to enjoy our city and has remembered that the idea of the project is based on the need to generate more connected, diverse and recognized learning opportunities, centered on the passions and the interests of young people, which are more linked to real life and carried out in a participatory manner adapted to the youngest citizenship, as expressed by organizations and youth policy makers at both the national and community levels in different forums.

Now within this European project is launched 'Cities of Learning', an online platform that allows young people to choose and choose learning opportunities based on their passions and interests.

The mayor of Youth has stressed that the main objective of this meeting is to analyze the successful practices of the launch of the platform www.citiesoflearning.eu, verify how different "playlist" of learning can support and recognize the learning of young people outside of schools, institutes or universities and how these can be supported by other stakeholders such as public authorities, entrepreneurs, media for the improvement of employability and the future of young people.

In Lorca, the project is open to collaboration with associations, organizations and companies for the development and expansion of partners of the platform www.lorca.cityoflearning.eu that works to provide the youth of Lorca, new opportunities for learning and employment .

With this new interactive tool young people can browse the map of their area or city, choose an activity or opportunity of their liking, register, participate and earn a badge.

The main objective of this platform is to identify, offer and recognize various learning opportunities for young people in different European cities and regions.

It responds to European challenges in education and employment by increasing equity in non-formal and informal learning in different areas and creating connections between organizations and spaces in townships in the case of Lorca- and other regions with similar geographical characteristics.

From Cazalla Intercultural have pointed out that "nowadays learning opportunities for young people are unlimited, individuals acquire new competences not only in the traditional environment of a classroom or at work, but increasingly outside of these environments. Learning is carried out through participation in civil society, volunteering or traveling, which generate skills, knowledge and wider competencies that often remain invisible. "

Mobility in learning is one of the key ways in which people can improve their development as active citizens and strengthen their professional skills, as well as communication, interpersonal and intercultural skills.
