The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has informed this morning of the approval by a large majority, in the Municipal Ordinary Plenary corresponding to the month of July, of two structural modifications of the lands that affect sections I and III of the round central.
Mateos has detailed that “in the case of Section I, the process already initiated with the previous Government team will be completed, to make effective that said section passes below the railway line, thus replacing the initial proposal of a step high".
The Mayor has reiterated that “this is not a measure that we like, something we already reiterate at the time, but in the face of the danger of meeting the deadlines of the European Investment Bank (EIB) of December 31, 2020, since The period of execution of the works is longer than one year and in order not to jeopardize that section, we have accepted the modification, although we understand that this upper bridge was better not to affect the underground, although it is true that it will affect some meters, we will fight so that if it is not 4.3 kilometers, it is the 3.9 that would be the cut due to the physical impediment of the section of the round ”.
The environmental processing of section III has also begun, which includes the historic Puente de La Torta which, according to the First Edil, “we understand that it is very late, is something that should have been done much earlier because we are already with very fair deadlines for the delay to which the previous government team has submitted to these works ”.
Mateos Molina has insisted that “we have done our work, we have taken this modification to the first Ordinary Plenary and we will continue doing everything possible so that section III can be in term and within the financing of the EIB”.
