We are Region requests an urgent reform of the autonomous financing system (05/11/2019)

It has been many years since we have been in democracy and the Region of Murcia remains unimportant, belittled and undervalued, compared to other autonomous communities in Spain.

Comparative grievances regarding financing and other social and political demands are continuing and of great importance.

We are convinced that, without going any further, the Mar Menor catastrophe could not only have been avoided if there were effective politicians and managers, but also, if it had occurred in the Valencian Community or the Basque Country, all the means would have been put human and economic to solve it immediately.

From Somos Región we request an urgent reform of the autonomous financing system, where there is transparency at the time of the distribution of funds to the different Spanish communities.

We do not understand or know why it is the worst funded.

It is common knowledge that the Region of Murcia suffers a double financial punishment, due to the current national political blockade;

It is one of the worst financed autonomies and at the same time they cannot receive deliveries on behalf of the State to cover this year's expenses, which are estimated at 234 million euros in the case of Murcia.

The tensions that this situation produces in the regional treasury are having an impact on payments to suppliers, which may affect the provision of basic health, education and dependency services.

It is also urgently necessary to unblock the delivery on account of economic resources, since this fact causes our region to become even more indebted, so we also request a cancellation of the debt of the regional liquidity fund, since it is not is doing justice with this community since ancient times, generating once again a huge territorial inequality

In line with territorial inequality within the Murcian community, we propose as a way of equitable distribution of wealth, the regionalization of its territory.

Recall that the Region is a division of the territory that includes several populations.

Its dimensions are changing and it shares not only physical but also human and historical characteristics, all of them determining its geographical landscape.

Its denomination and delimitation is carried out both with intellectual and political criteria, attending to all kinds of interests and methodologies;

and with administrative capacities over the territory, such as those corresponding to the municipality or the province.

It is common knowledge that there are regions of fact (not law) that are better funded and with more services than others, in the same autonomous community.

Not all municipalities, nor the entire surface of some municipalities, are covered by a fast-track service;

that is, the Region of Murcia is not well vertebrate and there is territorial inequality.

This implies important migrations within the region itself, leaving some very populated cities and others suffering from the already known depopulation that further aggravates the situation of inequality.

We believe that it is necessary to develop a law that makes this demand for regionalization a reality and that would imply a better distribution, distribution of public funds, as well as greater citizen participation that meets the demands of the inhabitants of that region, being a form of structuring based on the concept of territorial equality of all citizens of this Region.

As for the political representation in the Congress of Deputies by the CCAA, the reality is that it is not only the number of inhabitants that determines how many congressmen each Region contributes, since for example that of Aragon with 1,320,794 inhabitants , correspond to 13 deputies and Region of Murcia with 1,476 million, only takes 10 deputies.

So if the number of provinces (Aragon three provinces and Murcia one) intervene, we will request that the Murcia region be biprovincial.
