The warning of several residents of the San Cristóbal neighborhood and the rapid performance of the Local Police agents and the Department of Health have achieved a happy ending for 'Argos'.

The Councilor for Health of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has announced the happy ending for a dog lost in the city and has been identified thanks to the microchip that its owners had implanted.

Ponce has reported that "thanks to the citizen collaboration and the joint work of Local Police and the members of the Department of Health 'Argos' returns home safe and sound. And is that the dog, which had been lost in the vicinity of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, has already been delivered to its owners. "

The Edil explained that "the notice of several residents of the area to municipal services, which have acted quickly and in coordination, has allowed to collect and identify both the dog and its owners who upon receiving the happy call have quickly come to pick it up at the facilities of the Department of Health. "

José Ángel Ponce has revealed "the importance of the identification of our companion animals through the microchip, a painless system of easy and quick insertion that allows to find the animals in case of loss or theft and prove their ownership throughout of the pet's entire life. "

The Councilor for Health has also recalled that "Law 6/2017, of November 8, on the protection and defense of companion animals in the Region of Murcia, requires owners of dogs, cats and ferrets to identify them through an electronic chip as well as the corresponding identification document issued by qualified veterinarians and, in addition, the abandonment is penalized and considered a very serious infraction and the person who leaves it can be punished with fines ranging from 6,000 to 30,000 euros " .

Ponce Díaz has thanked "both the citizen collaboration and the speed with which the municipal services have worked" and announced that "we are working to strengthen both the protocol for action in cases of lost animals and the promotion of measures aimed at achieving zero abandonment. "
