The PP comes out in defense of the educational freedom of families (15/11/2019)

Fulgencio Gil: "the PSOE has to solve the problems of Lorca by approving the Decree Law to subsidize the IBI to those affected by earthquakes, instead of meddling in the lives of families to decide on what does not apply"

The Spokesman of the Popular Group in the City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has claimed the right of all Lorca families to freely choose the education they want to offer their children, and has expressed the concern generated by the statements made by of the Minister of Education of the PSOE, Isabel Celaá, who, irresponsibly, incomprehensibly and against all logic, has literally indicated that "the right of parents to choose a religious education does not emanate from the constitution."

Fulgencio Gil has affirmed that it is the worst attack against the educational freedom of families that is remembered, whose severity is accentuated by taking into account that it has been a Minister who has proclaimed it.

We are facing a barbarity similar to the situations of educational involution and indoctrination that have been denounced both in Catalonia and in the Basque ikastolas.

The leader of the PP has explained that this political formation does fully defend the right of families to educate their children as they deem necessary, because nobody has to tell Lorca to educate their children.

If parents want their children to study Religion, that has to be respected by the Government, whether from the PSOE or Podemos, and if the parents' option is to school them in centers of concerted education, they also have to respect that freedom.

The opposite would be an illegitimate and dictatorial interference of the government in the life of the Spaniards.

We must remember that in Lorca there are currently 2,229 students studying in concerted education, in centers that employ 160 Lorca families.

Fulgencio Gil has said that the PSOE has to worry about solving the problems of Lorca, for example by passing the Decree Law to subsidize 50% of the IBI to those affected by earthquakes, instead of meddling in the lives of families to decide about what does not apply.

That is why we demand the current government of Spain to guarantee the freedom of education and the right that assists parents so that their children receive religious and moral training that is in accordance with their own moral convictions, as reflected in the Spanish Constitution.

The Speaker of the Popular Party has advanced that from the PP of Lorca we will also demand through a motion to the next plenary session of the City Council the support of all political groups to demand that Minister Celaá withdraw from the aforementioned manifestations, while we demand that the Government from Spain guarantee the free choice of center.

We would like to think that the words of the Minister have been a mistake, and we hope that they are not the first step to suppress the public liberties of Spanish families and give way to an interventionist government, of Bolivarian court, that steals from families One of the most basic rights that citizens have: educate our children as we deem appropriate.
