The Councilor for Education, Antonia Pérez, visits the Child Care Center of La Paca (PAI) during her open day (17/11/2019)

Since June, the City of Lorca has worked to "give all possible facilities so that fathers and mothers residing in nearby districts can make use with total security and stability."

The Councilors of Education and Development of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez and Isabel Casalduero, have attended this morning the open day that has been held at the Point of Child Care (PAI) located in La Paca.

Pérez has remarked that "the continuity of the Point of Attention to Children of La Paca was and is one of the commitments of this new Government Team and we have made all the necessary steps to continue serving children from 0 to 3 years of age. high districts of Lorca ".

The Edil recalled that "since its inception, this center has shown many difficulties to operate: the resignation of the first winning company before starting its activity, the request for the transfer of use of the center by the Spartary Federation that was not carried out for not having the necessary personnel for the provision of the service or the temporary transfer to a company outside the City Council, after these failed attempts, the Consistory agreed to initiate a procedure for a new contract that required an ordinance, being a center of municipal ownership, and that forced an economic feasibility study before starting the tender for the concession for its management. "

"This study", continued Antonia Pérez "concluded last June demonstrating the unfeasibility of the service since the results were contrary to the possibility of a tender. A result for which this City Council has been working all these months and making all necessary efforts, and the consequent budgetary adjustment, so that this study could be approved showing the viability of the contract for the concession of the PAI Services of La Paca and bidding for this fundamental service for the neighbors of our Highlands. "

Pérez Segura explained that "an adequate solution to the current regulations has been sought with which to put an end to the situation of continuous instability that this center has had since its creation, an instability as a result of the temporary patches that the previous Government Team of the Popular Party was putting as more and more difficulties appeared to maintain this service since I even outsource the management of the center, thus avoiding its responsibility, for all this, which since June, as soon as I entered the municipal government, we have worked to find short and long term solutions. "

The Councilor for Education has shown that "the objective is to encourage and provide all possible facilities so that fathers and mothers residing in nearby districts can make full use of this Child Care Point to which in in the last months only six children attended, while there are about a hundred children between 0 and 3 years of age registered in the high districts ".
