The Santa Cecilia Choir will celebrate this next Tuesday, November 26, its XIV Extraordinary Concert in honor of the patron saint of music that gives name to this musical formation (21/11/2019)

The program will be composed of themes of classical music, Havana, popular and Christmas carols, such as 'Lacrymosa' by Mozart, 'The Annunciation' by Ariel Ramírez, 'Someone sang' by Matt Monro and 'Parole, Parole' by Alberto Lupo, among others .

The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has presented this morning with the president of the Association of Housewives, Consumers and Users and the director of the Santa Cecilia Choir, Jesús Jódar, the fourteenth edition of the Extraordinary Concert in honor of Santa Cecilia, patron of Music.

The mayor of Culture has detailed that "this event will take place next Tuesday, November 26, at the Cultural Center 'Mayor José MÂŞ Campoy' from 19 hours. The event will begin with a monologue played by Jesus Jódar under the title "Christmas, what fools we get."

Mazuecos has explained that the program is composed of themes of classical, Havana, popular and carol music and stressed that its director, Jesús Jódar, directs this choir from its beginnings in an impeccable way, being the composer of many songs that interpret in his repertoire.

This extraordinary concert consists of three parts: one with religious songs like 'Benedictus' and 'Sacta Mater' by Karl Jenkis and 'Lacrymosa' by Mozart.

In the second part the 'Cristo de Palacaguina', 'Los Reyes Magos', 'El Nacimiento' and 'La Anunciación' by Ariel Ramírez and 'A la cena de las Monjas' by Carlos Cano will be performed.

In the final stretch of the concert it will be the turn of popular songs like 'Someone sang' by Matt Monro, 'Forbidden Garden' by Sandro Giacobe, 'Parole, Parole' by Alberto Lupo and 'My free song' by Lucio Battisti, all under the direction and arrangements of Jesús Jódar Manzano.

In addition, the Coral has recorded two CDs, one of religious music and another of popular themes.

It is a mixed Coral and the constancy in its essays of all its components make its performances always a success.

Finally, Mazuecos has encouraged everyone to attend this concert and enjoy the wonderful work of the Coral Santa Cecilia de Lorca has been performing for 34 years, and has participated in concerts that have been performed both inside and outside the Region of Murcia.
