The Councilor for Health demands that the installation of the Magnetic Resonance service at the Rafael Méndez Hospital be expedited (26/11/2019)

The mayor of Health also requests the Murcian Service to provide the Health Centers of the municipality with at least one ultrasound to speed up waiting and save travel until consultations with the specialist.

The Councilor for Health of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce has required the Murcia Health Service, under the Regional Government, to expedite the installation of the Magnetic Resonance service at the Rafael Méndez de Lorca University General Hospital, pending installation since it was Donating by the Amancio Ortega Foundation to the Lorca Hospital in June 2017.

The mayor has reiterated the "need" for the Lorca hospital "serving a population of about 200,000 inhabitants" to enter the 21st century with the installation of this "fundamental" service in a hospital like ours.

Ponce Díaz has warned that patients in health area III "are forced to wait more than triple what Decree 25/2006 of March 31 allows, establishing the necessary measures to guarantee a maximum time of access to the performance of diagnostic tests. "The lack of the necessary equipment and sanitary personnel with which the Regional Government punishes area III of health forces citizens to wait more than three times what is legally allowed, since the deadline legally allowed maximum is in 30 days. "

The Councilor for Health has denounced that the average wait for an ultrasound is now 204.4 days, so he urged the Regional Government of López Miras to act "as soon as possible" to stop these waits, he insists , "exceeding alarmingly the limits established by our legislation".

In this sense, Ponce has demanded that the Murcia Health Service provide the Municipality's Health Centers as soon as possible with at least one ultrasound.

"In this way, family doctors and pediatricians will be in a position to improve diagnosis and treatment, speeding up the endless waiting, bringing this service closer to the patient and thus saving travel to consultations with the specialist."

"204 days for an ultrasound; 194 days for stress tests; 95 days for a colonoscopy-rectoscopy or 85 days for an electrocardiogram, are some of the most alarming examples of the waiting times we support in area III, as a consequence of the management of the Government of López Miras in health matters in an area in which, in addition, there are 3,835 people without an assigned date or what is the same, who remain in a limbo waiting for their appointment to conduct their test diagnostic".

José Ángel Ponce has remarked that "the differences between areas are evident, and therefore, discrimination is manifest," said Ponce, who noted that "while any Murcia waits, on average, 32 days for a diagnostic test, in Lorca and in the whole of area III we wait 104 days, that is, more than triple. "

So much so, he warns, that "health area III is the area that has the longest waiting times for diagnostic tests."

"In the delay to carry out a diagnostic test is the difficulty in accessing an early diagnosis, which allows the development of a health policy focused on prevention," explained the mayor.

For all these reasons, Ponce Díaz has informed that he will also take these claims to the Plenary of the City of Lorca and the Regional Assembly to make the López Miras government aware of this claim necessary to improve the well-being of all Lorca and users of the Area III of health.
