The mayor of Lorca signs the municipal accession to the VioGen Protocol for the integral protection of victims of domestic and gender-based violence (03/02/2020)

Lorca thus becomes a pioneer municipality in the Region as it is the first city with more than 50,000 inhabitants that implements this protocol to guarantee maximum protection for victims through coordination between State Security Forces and Bodies.

February 3rd.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, signed this morning the accession of Lorca to the 'Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between State Security Forces and Bodies and the Local Police Bodies for the protection of victims of domestic and gender-based violence ".

The First Edil has detailed that "the City of Lorca, in addition to complying with the plenary agreement last November, reinforces and demonstrates, once again, its commitment to victims of gender violence and therefore incorporates into its body of Local Police in the VioGen System, to improve the effectiveness of the collaboration and guarantee the integral nature of the protection in the municipality ".

"We want to show our total commitment to the eradication of this scourge as well as the protection of the victims and, therefore, although it is a great effort, the public administrations have to be precisely for these efforts, which are worthwhile and are demanded by the company and it is that with this signature the incorporation of the Local Police Lorca becomes effective to the 'Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between State Security Forces and Bodies and the Local Police Bodies for the protection of victims of domestic violence and gender 'with the objective of joining forces, both human and material resources, of the Security Forces and Bodies. Strengthen collaboration and coordination between the bodies that serve in our municipality and thus ensure effective compliance with judicial measures to protect victims of gender violence, "Mateos recalled.

Mateos stressed that "this accession includes the creation of a single police coordination center for the reception of orders for the protection of victims of gender violence, the establishment of a system of good practices that avoid aggravating the status of victims or access from the agents of the Local Police to the resources of VioGen necessary to carry out in the most efficient way their protection work ".

The mayor of Lorca has shown that "from the Consistory of Lorca we have wanted to make an important effort because we want to put all the resources that our Local Police have in coordination with the State Security Forces and Corps on such an important issue as It is gender violence, a coordination that will mean that Local Police of Lorca has contact with National Police and up to five positions in the Civil Guard since there are districts of Lorca in which reference point is located outside our town as it happens with Almendricos which is Puerto Lumbreras or Ramonete whose reference is Mazarrón ".

Mateos wanted to thank "the predisposition of the Delegation of the Government, of the National Police, of the Civil Guard and of its position of the Local Police of Lorca because although we are the first city of more than 50.00 inhabitants that signs this agreement, we hope that the rest of the cities are added little by little, that they make this same effort and that they become aware of this situation to which we must put all the means at our disposal. "

In addition, Diego José Mateos recalled "the need for a court of gender violence in Lorca through the transformation of the current Court number 4 with the aim of strengthening the functioning of the courts of Lorca and, in particular, those specialized for the attention to cases of gender violence and also equate to cities like Murcia and Cartagena.
