The councilor of Oenegés de Lorca, María Dolores Chumillas, has highlighted "the benefit that this stay has for children thanks, above all, to the medical care they receive provided by their Lorca families."

The councilor of Oenegés of the City of Lorca, María Dolores Chumillas, has presented, this morning, together with Antonio García Ros, president of the Lorca Association of Friends of the Saharawi People and Isabel Sánchez Perán, treasurer of this group, the temporary reception program 'Holidays in Peace' from the Association Friends of the Saharaui People.

The mayor of Oenegés recalled that "this program allows Saharawi children to enjoy the summer months, July and August in our city, and do so with their host families. A stay that allows them to improve their living conditions, thanks to the medical care and the ophthalmological and auditory exams that they provide them. "

Chumillas Martínez has detailed that "the children in Lorca have a happy stay with their host families and with the friends they already have here, in addition to enjoying our city, its beaches and gastronomy".

The councilor explained that "this year there will be a new edition of this program in which Saharawi children, aged between 8 and 13, from the refugee camps in Tindouf, in Algeria, participate."

Chumillas has indicated that "from the City Council we have also recently participated in the solidarity campaign launched by the Friends of the Saharaui Association for the collection of funds for the purchase of medicines for children and antidiarrheal colds, as well as what is necessary to combat diabetes and for treatments for pregnant women. "

For his part, the president of the Association Friends of the Saharawi People, Antonio García Ros, said that "the objective of this program is for children to improve their living conditions, for this during these weeks the children receive medical care and ophthalmological check and auditory. "
