The municipal cleaning company Limusa acquires three new collectors that will reduce emissions and noise during the waste collection process (04/02/2020)

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, explained that "the investment in the new material amounts to 800,000 euros and the fourth unit has yet to arrive, which would reach 1.2 million euros in renewing the truck fleet" .

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, along with the vice mayor, Francisco Morales, presented, this morning, in the new facilities of the Logistics Center, three of the four collectors acquired by the municipal cleaning company Limusa to renew the fleet of trucks destined to the collection of household waste.

The mayor explained that "the routes on which service will initially be provided have about 200 containers each that are emptied daily, and its presence will be noted, reducing both gas and noise emissions, especially considering its operation in Night shift".

Mateos has detailed that "the substitution is the result of a bidding process started a year ago that included the acquisition of four units, two for rear cargo containers (9 and 24 cubic meters of capacity) and two other units to empty those of lateral load (one of 24 and another of 30 cubic meters), being awarded jointly for an amount of approximately 1.2 million euros. These units represent an investment that touches the 800,000 euros, financed by renting at 60 months. "

According to the First mayor, "with the expansion of the equipment, the City Council intends to gradually cover the needs of Limusa to meet its usual efficiency and improve the working conditions of its workforce, modernizing the material, at the time of performing its functions as a service to the citizen, at the same time that it complements its sustainability together with the integral treatment of urban solid waste in the Waste Management Center ".

Mateos Molina has pointed out that "the renewal and expansion of the collection material means that Limusa's motorized equipment in collection trucks is extended to boxes of 9, 24 (two trucks) and 30 cubic meters, to the detriment of obsolete of similar volume, but lower load capacity by weight because they are efficient in compaction. The previous units have served for about 10 years on average, a period much longer than their amortization and usual in this type of work. "

Finally, the mayor has reiterated that "the greater capacity of the fleet will mean an economic saving that has a direct impact on the improvement of the service provided to the citizen by having to travel less to the Waste Management Center in Barranco Hondo to download ".
