The City of Lorca increases by 190 free parking spaces in the vicinity of the traditional Weekly Market of the Garden of La Rueda (06/02/2020)

The premises of the former municipal vehicle depot now become free parking and, in addition, in response to requests from merchants and users, the toilets of the site have been improved thanks to a municipal investment of 30,000 euros.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Councilor for Squares and Markets, José Ángel Ponce, presented this morning the new free parking space available in the vicinity of the Weekly Market of the city and will be operational next Thursday, February 13th.

Mateos explained that "thanks to the construction of the new Limusa logistics base and to facilitate purchases in our Weekly Market we offer users a new parking space with capacity for 190 vehicles parked on battery, three of them also adapted for people with disabilities. "

The First Edil has detailed that "as of next Thursday, the premises of the old municipal warehouse, located in front of the Huerto de la Rueda and with 4,900 m2 of extension, now become a free parking lot on Thursdays from 8:00 to 16: 00 hours, time in which the traditional Lorca market takes place ".

Mateos Molina has reported that "the total investment made to improve in the grounds of the Huerto de la Rueda, especially to guarantee the needs of traders and users of the Weekly Market on Thursdays has been 30,000 euros."

The mayor has indicated that "among others, the actions that we have carried out and that were a historical demand of both merchants and assistants have been the integral remodeling of the toilets with the replacement and sanitation of tiles; the replacement and sanitation of doors and latches, the fixation of the roof plaster or the renovation of urinals. In addition, it has invested in the improvement of the firm of the Garden of the Wheel to improve the conditions of security, accessibility and the comfort of the users ".
