The councilor of Casco Histórico in the City of Lorca, Francisco Javier Martínez, has presented a new proposal in positive that would come to add to the recovery process of the old area of ​​our city.
It is about proposing to the current local government to demonstrate that it really bets on our historic center by undertaking the procedures to enable the construction of a new public square, equipped with play elements for children that would be located between Alta and Espín streets, in a of the areas of greatest tradition and historical roots of Lorca.
It would come to occupy the place where a plot of approximately 270 m2 is currently located, and that constitutes a real headache for the neighboring neighbors, since it has become a place of accumulation of garbage, weeds and even, sometimes , the presence of rodents has been recorded with the consequent malaise of the citizens.
Francisco Javier Martínez has proposed that this site ceases to be a problem, and becomes a new social and urban resource for Lorca.
We are talking about incorporating an embellished corner into the city, available to Lorca to enjoy their leisure and free time.
Our proposal is inclined to repeat a model that we have already launched on a surface of similar dimensions to this location.
It is about repeating an example that has amply demonstrated its suitability, as is the case of the square of the Brotherhood of the Curia, which has achieved an aesthetic and functional improvement adjacent to the church of Santiago.
We want that between the Alta and Espín Alta streets a space with the same characteristics is enabled, contemplating the installation of street furniture, benches, litter bins, lampposts, as well as providing it with adequate woodland, playgrounds and vertical gardens.
This last resource is offering a good result, as we can see in the Plaza de la Hermandad de la Curia.
The PP proposal echoes the request we have received in this regard from the neighbors themselves, who point precisely to the implementation of this project as an ideal solution for all.
It would also serve as a stimulus factor for the rehabilitation of our historic center.
It should be noted that part of the plot in question is municipal property, so the City Council would only have to reach an agreement with the other party to make this proposal possible.
That is why we consider it convenient to start working on this initiative, starting with the necessary procedures as soon as possible.
We have the opportunity to turn a problematic site into a positive resource for all Lorca, which would also allow communication between both streets. We propose that they work to achieve it.
