IU-Verdes Lorca denounces that the 14 million for Rafael Méndez promised in election campaign by the PP remain at 3.4 (10/02/2020)

The councilor of this training, Gloria Martín, has described as "scam" that the regional government has reduced by 75% the investment promised in election campaign for the only hospital in Area III

The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, today described as "scam" the budget project of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia for 2020 in health matters.

Martín has denounced that the 14 million euros of investment announced by the government of Fernando López Miras (PP) in full pre-election campaign of the regional ones for the improvement of the Rafael Méndez hospital, have finally remained at 3.4.

Of these, only 11% (400,000 euros) will be budgeted this year.

The López Miras executive promised Area III users that his only hospital would have a new 2,500-meter building, that the emergency room would be extended by almost a thousand square meters, three new boxes for the ICU, an oncohematological day hospital and a surgical one which would allow to increase the surgical activity and reduce the waiting list.

"They will tell us how they are going to do all that, having reduced the investment by almost 75%, that is, by 10.6 million compared to what they told us before the elections," said Martín.

“What are they not going to do about everything they promised?

Who are they going to continue to condemn to a third division health? â€, Said Martín, who again denounced the“ sanitary ball â€model, whereby“ public health is allowed to die to inflate the benefits of the private one, where he that premium is the economic profitability and not the quality of care â€.

In that sense he recalled that in the Region "one in three euros dedicated to health goes private."

Gloria Martín explained the project of regional budgets in this area, in which an item of 832,176 euros reappears for the second phase of the works aimed at converting Santa Rosa de Lima into a high resolution center.

An action that has been announcing since 2009 and that should have come into operation in 2012. However, “the money invested in a decade has only served to luxuriously remodel the office plant of the executives of Area III, which was the first that was done, wash the face to the services of Obstetrics and Gynecology and attend to the patients of the demolished health center Lorca-Center, whose reconstruction they have completely forgotten despite having promised, â€he said.

The budgets include 500,000 euros for the TAC and the new MRI that will be installed in Rafael Méndez.

In this regard, Martín recalled that the financing for these teams comes from a donation by a private company that dates back to 2017. “The autonomous government of PP and C's is not able to be efficient even when they give him the money,†he reproached. Martín, who said he did not understand how, despite the economic departure for 2020, “another 55,864 will be pending for future annuities in this action.

Regarding Primary Care, the councilwoman of IU-Verdes has explained that in the investment projects there is no item for the construction of the “archipromised†new health center in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, especially because the City Council has been unable in four years to make the land available to the autonomous community.

In this regard, he recalled that neither the previous municipal government team of the PP, nor the current one of the PSOE and C's, have achieved this objective.

On this issue, Martin wanted to make it clear that in the failed budget project of PSOE and C's there was "not a euro" for the development and urbanization of the UA-23, which must be borne by the City Council, and the that the plot for this health center should leave.

The councilwoman of IU-Verdes has indicated that the solution to the overcrowding suffered by users in the area of influence of the San Cristóbal neighborhood is not going to come through the route of the expansion of the San Diego health center.

"They have only budgeted 50,000 ridiculous euros, that is, 5% of the total million they were going to allocate to this action," he warned.

Based on the budget project, Lorca will not have a new Primary Care Emergency Service this year, also promised.

The councilwoman of IU-Verdes recalled that Lorca has “infamous†waiting lists both in Primary and in first consultation with the specialist and for surgical interventions.

To this we must add “terrible†deficits in the staff of health workers, which are well below those of Murcia or Cartagena in proportion to the population served.

In this regard, Martin regretted that far from contemplating greater budgetary provision and encouraging incentives to stay in Lorca, these budgets "will continue to widen the gap between the sanitary conditions that exist in our region with respect to other areas."
