The mayor of Pedanías, Antonio Navarro, stressed that "urgent measures are needed to help residents establish their residence in their places of birth, as well as incentives for those who want to settle there."

The councilor of Pedanías of the City of Lorca, Antonio Navarro, has asked the Autonomous Community to include the Highlands of Lorca in the 'Table Against Depopulation' that the regional government has already indicated that it intends to constitute in the next weeks in which the mayors of the affected municipalities will participate together with technicians and experts.

The mayor of Pedanías has pointed out that, as well as areas of the Region such as the Comarca del Noroeste, the Ricote Valley or the Mula River, the municipality of Lorca also needs "urgent measures to help residents to establish their residence in these districts where they were born and raised, as well as incentives for all those neighbors who want to establish their domicile there. "

Navarro Pérez has also referred to the Law to Combat Depopulation in the Region of Murcia and to Improve the Quality of Life in Rural Cores, whose intention to approve has already been shown by the CARM, guaranteeing that departments such as Education, Health, Transport, Finance and Employment, among others, carry out measures that favor that living in these areas is attractive.

For what, Navarro said, "it is essential to have quality services, that communications are good, as well as the improvement of health care and school education, among others, for what we are working from day one that we reached the mayor's office. "

The mayor of Rural Development recalled that "from the City Council we are working hand in hand with the residents of the Highlands, as well as with groups and associations in the area for the implementation of initiatives that also allow the economic development of these areas of the municipality, a clear example is the work being done with the Association of Red Thyme Producers who are fighting for the Protected Designation of Origin for this crop. "

It should be noted that during the last semester of last year, coinciding with the first six months at the head of the municipal government, urgent and essential interventions were carried out in medical offices, social premises, roads and roads, schools and sports facilities of the 39 districts of our municipality.

Among which stand out the almost 200,000 euros allocated to street arrangements, paving roads and the resurfacing of others, as well as the adaptation of streets and public spaces.

The adequacy of access to all districts, that is, improving roads to facilitate communication and travel.

Also the maintenance, renovation and repair of luminaires and the renewal of the road signs of the roads of the districts.

The more than 32,000 euros that have been allocated to basic and urgent actions in the different medical offices, such as electrical repairs, plumbing, masonry, air conditioning systems, furniture renovation and computing devices.

And in the social premises or centers of Women, where in just six months a large number of actions have been carried out to improve these spaces such as conditioning social premises full of dampness, leaks or roof damage through plumbing repairs or masonry.

In the public schools of the districts, an important amount of money has also been invested for repairs in plumbing and sanitation, maintenance of the heating system and repairs of furniture and infrastructure, in addition to the installation of bicycle parking in some of these schools.

In sports, some pavilions have been conditioned, perimeter fences have been installed on sports courts, and others have been improved, in addition to the revision of the plate system or the waterproofing of some areas of corridors and leaking access.

From the municipal cleaning company, Limusa, new containers have been incorporated for both organic waste and containers and cardboard, in addition to the selective collection islets and the increase of wastebaskets in industrial estates.
