The mayor of Lorca opposes the construction of the polygon of marine crops off the municipal coast (11/02/2020)

The technical services of the City of Lorca are already studying the construction project of the aquaculture estate to present the pertinent claims against.

February 11th.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has announced his opposition to the construction of the marine crop estate off the coast of Lorca.

Mateos has explained that "from the City of Lorca we have started the study of the project but, in the first instance, from the Consistory we do not share this type of project in an area such as the Lorca coast as it has both an environmental and landscape value that we must to protect".

Mateos Molina has indicated that "in addition to that, currently we do not find any benefit to this opening, the main thing is the position of the neighbors, because a City Council cannot govern with its back to its neighbors, and they have never shown themselves to please of this aquaculture polygon ".

The mayor of Lorca has assured that "we also do not have favorable experiences in this type of issues, remember the previous similar installation in the same area and, therefore, municipal environmental and urban planning technicians initiate, thus, an analysis of the project to present allegations against it, because that is neither the site nor the place for an installation of these characteristics. "

Diego José Mateos said that "we understand that the Murcian coast, the Murcian coast, has many other spaces and much more suitable to house this polygon of marine crops and not the 9 kilometers of virgin coast that Lorca has".
