López Miras inaugurates the Casa del Artesano de Lorca, "architecture, history and reference scenario for the future of regional crafts" (11/02/2020)

The president of the Community highlights the "value of this sector", to which the regional government allocates almost 1 million euros this year and guarantees "heritage protection so that it can be enjoyed by all citizens"

The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, inaugurated today the new Workshop House of the Craftsman 'El Arrabal' of Lorca, where he stressed that it is "a monumental complex that is worth everyone to know, which is the scene of architecture and history , but also a reference center for the future of regional crafts. "

"With this House of the Craftsman we value the handicraft sector," said the head of the regional Executive, who recalled that this year the regional government will allocate 820,800 euros to the sector, collected in the Autonomous Community Budget.

"We ensure the protection of heritage, we help conserve it and we work so that this heritage can continue to be enjoyed by all citizens," he said.

Through a collaboration agreement signed between the City Council and the Ministry of Enterprise, Industry and Spokespersons, the Autonomous Community will organize activities in this Artisan House, including courses, workshops, exhibitions and live demonstrations, as well as training programs.

In addition, the regional government has invested more than 255,000 euros for the rehabilitation of the historic building, including the recovery of the Old Municipal Archive, which was previously housed, damaged by the 2011 earthquakes.

The new museum space is located in the historic city center.

In this regard, López Miras announced that "in a few weeks all the parties involved in the project to rehabilitate the historic center of Lorca will meet to give it the final boost, as we promised."
