The City of Lorca will open to traffic in the coming weeks the new road that connects the Alameda de Cervantes with the Camino Marín (13/02/2020)

The works, which are progressing at a very good pace, will end with the withdrawal already requested from the respective companies of several telephone and energy aerial wiring posts.

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Councilor for Development, Isabel Casalduero, have supervised this morning the opening works of the new road that will connect the Alameda de Cervantes with the Camino Marín and that will open to traffic in the coming weeks .

Mateos explained that "during the last weeks we have been working to materialize, when before, one of the most pressing needs in the urban area of ​​our municipality, the opening of a road that connects one of the main arteries of the city, the Alameda of Cervantes, with the well-known Camino Marín ".

The First Edil has detailed that "the street has a length of 240 meters and adopts the typology of 'coexistence street' in which the circulation of vehicles at low speed, below 30 km / h, as well as the passage will be allowed pedestrian through autumn cobblestone concrete sidewalks, with a total area of ​​1200 m2. "

"The conditioning and improvement of the infrastructure has been carried out on a total surface area of ​​3,720 m2 and both horizontal and vertical signage will be placed on the road. Specifically, they will be installed on 8 posts with traffic signs and paint road for marking pedestrian crossings, parking for 85 vehicles with a reservation for people with disabilities, as well as directional signage ".

Mateos Molina stressed that "the installation of the public lighting system will be carried out through the installation of eight luminaires; the renovation and improvement of the rainwater network; as well as the burial of low voltage and telecommunications networks ".

The mayor of Lorca also remarked that "the street and the railroad, which runs parallel, will be separated by a wall 20 centimeters high on which a simple twist fence of 2 meters high will be placed."

"When the trees and furniture in the area are finished, once the works are finished, 21 trees will be planted along the sidewalk and will be equipped with a programmed irrigation system as well as the installation of several wastebaskets."

Diego José Mateos has shown that "the period of execution of the work, with a total budget of 133,000 euros, is two months since the work on this section of the road will continue once the telephone wiring poles are removed. and energy, to which from the City of Lorca we have already sent the relevant applications to carry out the execution and, the necessary permits to be granted by Adif have already been granted and we are waiting for the receipt of the authorization communication in the next few days ".

The mayor recalled that "it is an infrastructure that, upon our arrival at the municipal government, we find absolutely paralyzed, with the formalities and permits to be completely forgotten and that in record time we have managed to move forward. Now, we hope that Iberdrola as Telefónica, the companies responsible for the withdrawal of the supply posts in the road, comply with the requirement and with the established deadlines and in a maximum period of two months be withdrawn. "
