The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the councilor of the Treasury, Isidro Abellán, has announced the proposed budget modification that will be presented at the next Municipal Plenary.

Mateos explained that "next Monday 24 will take place the Municipal Plenary corresponding to the month of February and from the Government Team we will raise a motion for the deliberation and approval of a modification of the municipal budget. A modification, 6/2020, with a amount close to one million euros and equivalent to approximately 1.5% of the total budget. "

The first mayor has indicated that "the necessary technical adjustments are going to be made so that all those items that were estimated from the previous budget and that had been exhausted or what they covered were not going to be developed during this annuity, are transferred from some items to others in order to make a readjustment in some budgets of 2019 that for us are very improvable. "

Mateos Molina has highlighted "five of the actions to be carried out thanks to this budget modification, which were not contemplated in the 2019 municipal budget and this Government Team considers necessary, indispensable, to be carried out this year. These are three major actions in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, specifically a game for the refurbishment of a premises for the creation of the Local Police Barracks in this neighborhood, the provision of 35,000 euros for the conditioning of the Acting Unit 23, in front of the Museo de Paso Encarnado , and turn it into a green space and the installation of a shading system in the courtyard of the Sacred Heart School with a starting of 10,000 euros. "

"Also an issue that we must seriously address, the continuity of the service of the Child Care Point, PAI, of La Paca for which the previous Government Team had only allocated a budget for half a year. We understand that it must be maintained and, for this, we incorporate a game of more than 18,000 euros ".

The mayor has also reported on "the provision of just over 43,000 euros for the continuation of the conditioning tasks of the Archaeological Site of the Castle of Lorca, to continue with the excavations, since there is a subsidy granted by the Autonomous Community but it is mandatory a municipal contribution and continue with the excavation and its value ".

Diego José Mateos has stated that "traditionally, governments have brought to the Plenary, throughout the year, these budgetary modifications and, therefore, it is a modification for which the municipal services have a lot of experience in their execution and whose adjustment must be carried out to Plenary as it is mandatory because we talk about transfers of items between different chapters and function groups. "

In addition, the mayor of Lorca recalled that "the budget modification has a double meaning. A technical point of view, since from the area of ​​intervention and the Budget Office understand it as necessary, as well as the incorporation of these five novelties, issues that were included in our budget and that we now include in this extension since we understand that they are very urgent and neither the users of the services, nor the neighbors of the high districts or the San Cristóbal neighborhood have to wait for there is a complete budget and, therefore, we will carry out this type of modification as long as the budget that has been extended ".
