IU asks the Lorca PSOE for consistency in terms of citizen security (18/02/2020)

The crimes against property committed this past weekend in the hamlet of La Paca, where there has been the devaluation of a family home just at the same time in which no less than three patrols of the Local Police, just three hundred meters from the place of commission of the crime, were engaged in alcohol tests, have caused the reaction of the United Left Municipal Group in the City of Lorca.

Pedro Sosa, Spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-V, maintains that coherence must be demanded from the PSOE of Lorca;

a party, says Sosa, who usually has very different and very distant speeches when he is in the opposition than when he is in the Government.

Sosa has brought up a motion signed and defended in April 2017 by who at that time was PSOE councilor, María de la Soledad Sánchez, and today a national deputy of that party in Congress.

In that motion of 2017 he made a series of considerations and demands regarding police provisions for Lorca that now should be rescued.

When the PSOE was in opposition to local and national governments, it was stated verbatim by the aforementioned Sánchez Jódar that: "citizen insecurity, especially in districts, is due, among other things, to the reduction of the staff of the Local Police of Lorca, which has been cut 30% since 2011 ".

Mrs. Sánchez also argued that "the central government has been dedicated in recent years to shed the squads of the Civil Guard and the Local Police in the municipality of Lorca."

Therefore, the motion of the PSOE basically proposed to increase the number of Local Police forces to 160 members and to urge the Government of the Nation to guarantee 100% of the replacement rate of the National Police and Civil Guard templates.

Well, three years later, when there has been a change in those local and national governments, from the hands of the PP at the hands of the PSOE, we want to know what steps the PSOE has taken to implement those agreements embodied in its motion and which were approved with the support of the 25 councilors that made up the municipal plenary of the moment.

Sosa wants to know if the interest that the now deputy of the PSOE put on the citizen security of Lorca, remains the same, and if, given his current greatest possibilities and his closest proximity, he has already demanded from his partner the Minister of the Interior, guarantees to ensure a 100% restocking fee for members of bodies and state security forces in Lorca.

The same applies to Sosa in relation to the Local Police.

At present, we not only continue to have a workforce that has not stopped decreasing since 2017, but also on the workforce of the 120 current local police, there are shortly 10 retirements and many other transfers, without being guaranteed, no and to reach the numbers of the motion of Sánchez Jódar, but not even "stay as we were".

Also in terms of citizen security, Sosa has concluded, the PSOE continues to say one thing in the opposition to do the opposite in the government.
