The Community will conclude the regeneration works of the Cristo Rey de Lorca neighborhood after the authorization of the CHS (20/02/2020)

The installation of the beams of the new bridge over the Guadalentín, the first V-shaped one in the Region, will begin, which will strengthen mobility

The Community may conclude the regeneration works of the Cristo Rey de Lorca neighborhood after the recent obtaining of the authorization of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) to intervene in the Rambla de las Chatas.

This action, whose objective is to improve accessibility, is to cover a section of it and, once channeled, build a pedestrian zone.

The action will mean that the current road of Torrecillas Street can be extended, which is one-way, double-sided, and the increase in the number of car parks.

In addition, a park area with sports equipment is generated at the end of the channel.

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure, Enrique Ujaldón, said that the Ministry "was pending until today the permission of the CHS to authorize these works, which will improve the quality of life of the residents of the neighborhoods of La Viña and Christ Rey, because he will connect them with Alfonso X, improving their mobility and accessibility. "

Ujaldón recalled that the regional investment in the regeneration of the Cristo Rey neighborhood exceeds two million euros and includes the renewal of supply, sanitation, storm, irrigation, lighting, low voltage, telecommunications and gas services.

First V-shaped bridge

Enrique Ujaldón today supervised the construction work of the new bridge over the Guadalentín River, which is part of the works of the second section of the Central Round, in which the Community has invested a total of 3.6 million euros.

It will link the neighborhood of San Diego, where it will connect with the first section, with Santa Clara Avenue to give continuity to the infrastructure.

For the construction of the new bridge, 116 meters long, four beams 33.5 meters long and weighing 180 tons each will be installed, in addition to another four of 22.5 meters and 160 tons each, with a width of 5 meters.

"It is the first bridge with a central V-shaped battery that is built on the regional road network," said the Secretary General, who added that this action "will improve road safety and city traffic because it will absorb 7,000 vehicles per day to decongest the main avenues Juan Carlos I and Europe ", where there are often significant traffic retentions and their road capacity is exceeded.

He also said that the new section "will guarantee circulation during heavy rains and increase drainage capacity in case of floods, by building three openings.

In addition to the bridge, a new roundabout will be built at the intersection of the Cartagena Road and the Guadalentín river crossing speedway and a traffic light intersection will be conditioned in its connection with Santa Clara Avenue to facilitate all movements.

All services will also be replenished, about 40 LED-type luminaires and almost 200 woodland units will be installed.
