The Regional Assembly postpones the European seismology days for the coronavirus (16/04/2020)

| The event, which will take place in Lorca, and which will have the presence of representatives of various Spanish and European regional Parliaments, will be held on a date to be determined | The President of the Regional Assembly, Alberto Castillo, has announced the postponement of the European seismology days that were to be held in Lorca between May 10 and 12, coinciding with the ninth anniversary of the earthquake, and in which it was planned That several experts analyze that catastrophe from a physical-geological point of view, stressing its consequences and the difficulty of administrative procedures, both for the different governments and for the people affected by that event. "The expansion of the coronavirus forces us to postpone this event until a date in which circumstances allow its celebration," said Castillo, who organizes this event in his capacity as coordinator of the Natural Disasters working group of the Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies.

(CALRE), an organization that unites 74 European regional parliaments from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Spain. In this sense, the president of the Regional Assembly has indicated that the sessions had aroused great interest among the representatives of the regional Parliaments and that at the beginning of last March "several of them had already confirmed their presence in Lorca". Castillo thanked "the total involvement" of the Lorca City Council in this project.

The Natural Disasters working group was created in Milan in 2016 and aims to promote policies that minimize or combat climate change, urge governments to define in detail those sensitive infrastructures that should be individually reviewed or analyzed in a preventive manner, channel the demands for aid made by the different administrations and promoting educational and awareness policies on the preservation of the environment. In this group, which is coordinated by the Regional Assembly of Murcia, the Assembly of Extremadura, the Parliament of Galicia, the Italian Parliaments of Lazio, Molise, Veneto, Apulia and Friuli Venezia Julia, the Belgian Parliament of Wallonia and the Legislative Assembly of the Azores Islands (Portugal).
