The Department of Parks and Gardens combines, during these days, disinfection tasks with other maintenance of green areas in the municipality (15/05/2020)

Councilor Antonio Navarro explained that "seasonal flowers are also being planted in season, grown in the municipal nurseries of La Torrecilla, with the aim of making our parks look like Lorca deserves." The Councilor for Parks and Gardens of the City of Lorca, Antonio Navarro, has reported on the work that, from this management area, has been carried out in recent weeks with the aim of "adapting to the new normal and that our parks and gardens regain their beauty.

" The mayor of Parks and Gardens recalled that "at the time the health crisis began, we restructured our line of work and focused all our efforts on the protection of citizens, for which two lines of action were initiated: on the one hand, Parks and Gardens staff began to carry out permanent disinfection work in places with the greatest influx of people (near pharmacies, ATMs, supermarkets, etc.), and, on the other hand, a massive disinfection campaign was launched in all districts, neighborhoods and urban area with agricultural machinery and the altruistic collaboration of farmers, ranchers and pedíos ". Antonio Navarro has pointed out that "once all the needs of the first weeks have been met, the staff of Parks and Gardens have been redirected to daily tasks, so that our parks look like Lorca deserves, but without neglecting the disinfection tasks that we have been carrying out until now". Navarro Pérez has detailed that "currently two thirds of the personnel of this service are carrying out maintenance work on the parks and green areas of the municipality, for which, as we did last Christmas, we are planting seasonal flowers grown in nurseries municipal offices of La Torrecilla with the consequent savings for the City Council coffers.

And the other third of the workforce is dedicating themselves to disinfection, thus maintaining a perfect balance between both functions ". Finally, the councilor has called on "citizens to respect the green areas and gardens of the municipality, which are beginning to regain normality and the floral colors typical of this spring season to invite us to go for walks and do sports , always complying with the safety and hygiene regulations, in addition to the hours established for them.
