Development improves the works planned for section II of the Ronda de Lorca to promote mobility between neighborhoods (02/08/2020)

These works start next week and will be carried out in parallel to those of the new bridge over the Guadalentín river that already faces its final stretch.

Both actions are expected to end in September. The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, reported that the action involves a regional investment of 216,500 euros, in addition to the 3.6 million euros of works on the second section of the Ronda Sur Central de Lorca, among which is included the first bridge with a central pile in the shape of a 'V' that is built on the regional road network. "These complementary works will mean a significant improvement in the mobility of people from Lorca," said the counselor, who pointed out that it will help to decongest two major arteries in the city, such as Juan Carlos I and Europa avenues, where frequent traffic delays and its road capacity is exceeded. Díez de Revenga pointed out that this infrastructure will suppose an alternative itinerary to the current axis Juan Carlos I Avenue, Europa Avenue and Santa Clara Avenue, whose road capacity is frequently saturated at present. This complementary action will provisionally connect section II of the round with existing roads.

Thus, a provisional roundabout of 28 meters in external diameter will be carried out, in Juan A.

Dimas street, which allows connecting the beginning of section II with the existing vials, and a second one with an elliptical shape of 22 meters of semi-major axis and 12 meters of semi-minor axis, which will allow the connection of the end of section II with Avenida Santa Clara.

The work will also include the replacement and conditioning of various existing services.
