The PP demands that the current mayor take responsibility for the resounding failure of his "alms" system, apologize and reflect on his management (13/10/2020)

Rosa Medina: "Mr.

Mateos leaves half the petitioners without municipal support.

3 out of 4 euros of aid to merchants, hoteliers and the self-employed remain undistributed.

Of the million euros promised, only a quarter will be delivered.

What was intended to be a system of "charity" has turned it into an example of "calamity."The Councilor for the Economy and Finance in the Lorca town hall for the Popular Party, Rosa María Medina, has stated that the current mayor has to make a public apology, assume his political responsibility and seriously reflect after the resounding failure of the "alms" system to self-employed, hoteliers and merchants, who promised that they would reach one million euros but has remained in a quarter.

It is the biggest failure of the term that the current mayor has already consumed in the legislature, only comparable with his inability to carry out the municipal budgets.

It is the result of negligence, of not having known or managed or accepted the advice of anyone.Rosa Medina has affirmed that we said from the first moment that these measures were insufficient and disappointing ", and that the full monograph to address these measures was a" frustrating and sterile act.

"However, Mr.

Mateos was proud and has led us to this grotesque.

The current mayor has the political and moral obligation to acknowledge his failure in the first person and purify the responsibilities of this fiasco among his councilors of the current local government.

All the measures of Mr.

Mateos to manage the socio-economic and labor crisis caused by the pandemic are coming too late.We reached out to him to promote the measures that our freelancers, hoteliers and merchants needed, but he insisted on unilaterally imposing a system of "tips and small change" that has only served to ratify that Lorca needs as soon as possible a local government capable of dealing with with responsibility and solvency the problems that affect us.Six months ago we presented the LORCA RESPONDE PLAN, which contained the bonus and exemption measures that Ceclor, the Chamber of Commerce and the Lorca Self-Employed Platform were demanding from us.

We were ignored, and the system of "alms and change" that the current mayor imposed has dragged the beneficiaries into frustration.

They were promised a million euros, and the amount they are going to receive barely reaches a quarter of that amount.Mr.

Mateos said 5 months ago that this aid, which amounted to just 250,000 euros, was the maximum financial effort that the city council could make.

However, a few weeks later, he approved spending 800,000 euros of Lorca's taxes on buying cars, which shows that the city council can do much more than it is doing. We demand that the model that has been followed for the approval and payment of these "alms" be banished, and the aid of up to 2,000 euros that the Popular Party has managed to approve are processed as direct and justified concessions through a responsible declaration.

The important thing is to inject money as soon as possible into our productive fabric, including hoteliers, merchants, freelancers and micro-businesses.

What we are not going to allow under any circumstances is that the city council makes the same mistake again.

We demand a different model, fast, direct and free from "paperwork mazes".

Our workers and entrepreneurs cannot be condemned to a failed system. The new line of aid that we have managed to agree on with all municipal groups cannot follow the same path as this dire experience.

The "alms" of the current mayor have arrived very badly and very late.

The failure is resounding, as Mr.

Mateos has left half a thousand petitioners without any help.

On top of that, some of them are going to receive it when they have already been forced to close the doors of their businesses.

It is charged when they are collected, 25% of these "municipal tips" will be taken by the Treasury, because they will be taxed as income, so if the "tip" was already very low, it will be cut more.

Lorca is much worse today than a year ago because things are not being done well.
