The Plan of Sustainable Urban Mobility in the city of Lorca, which promotes the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, will promote accessible and connected mobility to urban areas and the development of a sustainable urban transport that is responsive to the basic needs of citizens.
The plan, whose tender was published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM), was recently awarded the contract and services for the drafting of the document with the UTE Doymogea21 amounting to 159,514 euros.
The drafting, which will last for 12 months, will have among its main objectives to achieve a more accessible and better connected to the rest of the city's historic center, improving the connection between the different neighborhoods and rural areas and reconfiguration some hits that make Lorca a more attractive for those who come to her city.
That document also pay particular attention to maintaining the balance of the diverse demands of transport and mobility of citizens, as well as the care of public spaces for pedestrians and bicycles, especially those around the lorquino cultural heritage.
The activities will take the movement and structure of the road network, parking, public transport enhancement, improvement of urban public space and citizen management of multimodality and mobility and accessibility and removal of barriers.
To do this, the actions of urban renewal (streets, pedestrian environments and spaces for transport infrastructure), with the introduction of forms of media more sustainable within the city and its surroundings displacement, compatible with economic growth will be optimized, the social cohesion and environmental protection, basic principles for achieving sustainable mobility.
It will take place in two phases.
The first is the analysis and diagnosis of the current situation of the city with regard to mobility, in which the needs and objectives will be identified and, based on them, plan and schedule performances in all areas affecting mobility in the field of study.
The second phase corresponds to the drafting of the plan itself, which, taking into account the comprehensive nature, strategies and instruments to achieve a coordinated and efficient use of different modes of transport use they may be drafted considering mobility from a perspective global.
With the start of the preparation of the Plan, the municipality of Lorca is set as the second in the region after the city of Murcia, in addressing a comprehensive mobility plan to improve its environmental and quality of life indicators and make Lorca one sustainable, connected and intelligent city.
