The Spokesman of the Government Team in the City of Lorca, Francisco Garcia, has confirmed that the Municipal Council will attend, as it has always done, the needs of children with difficulties that school canteens use during the school year.
This is a commitment that the Municipal Administration fulfills throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter and summer holidays, as well as weekends and holidays, since the work of the Municipal Social Services does not understand schedules Nor of vacations when it comes to attending to those who need it.
Francisco García stressed that the coverage of the City Council is not restricted to children, but that the whole family is cared for, providing the assistance it requires to ensure comprehensive care in case of need.
We start from the reality that if a child does not eat when he closes the school dining room, his family does not.
For this reason, we have chosen to provide a personalized service to families throughout the year, including the summer period, by providing, in addition to the guarantee of their food, other resources for children offered by the Consistory.
This mechanism of attention to children and their families is, according to the opinion of the technicians, much more positive and effective than other alternatives, since it avoids any kind of social stigmatization.
The Municipal Spokesman has stressed that the Social Services of Lorca maintain a year-round special protocol of action in a coordinated way with the different schools of our municipality to immediately detect and address any case of these characteristics.
