El Huerto Ruano hosts until December 15 the itinerant exhibition "Horse Breeding of the Armed Forces, 150 years of service" organized by the Ministry of Defense (21/11/2017)

With this sample, which consists of 41 photographic panels and 2 tarpaulins on a wooden frame, it is intended, among other aspects, to make known the history and the work that is carried out in the different Horse Breeding Military Centers scattered throughout the geography national, as well as disseminate the publication that gives origin to the sample

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, opened this morning the exhibition "Horse Breeding of the Armed Forces, 150 years of service", which can be visited until December 15 in the Palace Orchard Ruano from 11 am to 2 pm and of 17 at 20 hours, from Monday to Friday.

It takes place on the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Horse Breeding Service, which was established in 1864 to provide mounts to the armies, ascribing itself to the Cavalry Weapon.

Fulgencio Gil explained that "the objectives of this sample of itinerant character are multiple, first of all it is about making known the history and the work that is carried out in the different Horse Breeding Military Centers scattered throughout the national geography, as well as to disseminate the publication that gives origin to the sample, with this it is tried to vindicate the importance of the work done by the service in the breeding and taming of horses to endow the Armed Forces and the State Security Bodies and what this It supposes for the conservation of the autochthonous races horses and asnales.Also, we want to highlight other less known aspects such as breeding and canine socialization, training and research, by the Laboratory of Applied Research and support for the equestrian sector "

In this regard, it should be noted that the General Technical Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, which is currently the body on which the Cavalry Weapon depends, has published a book that offers a complete vision of the history of this service, its current functions and of the centers where they are made.

This work has abundant and beautiful images that illustrate the texts, so, like what has been done previously with other books of similar characteristics, this exhibition based on these photographs has been organized to disseminate the work that is carried out in the different Military Horse Breeding Centers and bring them closer to the citizens of the towns where they are located.

The Mayor of Lorca explained that "the sample consists of 41 photographic panels (0.5 m wide x 1.5 m high) and 2 canvases on wooden frame (1 m wide x 1.5 m high) distributed in different modules, grouping in each one of them a thematic set to cover all the aspects that are considered relevant.Also, it has been decided to include an introductory panel at the entrance of the exhibition in which the context of the sample is briefly explained In addition, it is completed with an explanatory video to illustrate in a didactic way the organization and the missions of the Horse Breeding Service, so it is an appropriate visit to complete the contents of the subject of social sciences, both for the students of the ESO, as for those of baccalaureate ".

Gil, also, stressed that "it is a unique opportunity to see an exhibition that, for its quality and attraction, draws attention to fans of the world of the horse."
