The PSOE requires the Government of Spain to relax the spending rule to municipalities and allocate their surplus to improve services (24/11/2017)

The Lorca socialists ask the PP to join in this petition to demand that the Ministry of Finance take an "urgent decision" to relax the spending rule once and for all.

The second deputy spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Isidro Abellán has announced that the Socialists will urgently register a motion for the Plenary session of Lorca requires the Government of Spain to relax the spending rule of the municipalities and their surpluses can be allocated to improve municipal services.

The Socialists are calling on the Finance Minister, Cristóbal Montoro, to act urgently on local treasuries and public functions and to "comply with the commitments he has made with the mayors and councilors" in relation to the revision of the spending rule of the City councils, so that the local entities can spend the surplus on policies for the benefit of the citizens.

Abellán says that "the Popular Party is punishing the City Councils" because due to the spending rule "they can not spend that surplus on issues that directly affect their neighbors."

From the PSOE recall that the president of the Government, Mariano Rajoy was committed in the last Conference of presidents to "adjust the spending rule of the municipalities" and the Minister himself also did before the FEMP.

In fact, remember that a working group was created that "only had one meeting in a year", which is why it shows the "lack of commitment" of the PP in this sense.

For all this, the Lorca socialists demand that the Ministry of Finance take an "urgent decision" to relax the spending rule once and for all.

Specifically, the Socialists ask that the Government of Spain be urged, in the first place, to review and adapt the spending rule to the needs of the public services provided by the town halls, since many of them are state-owned;

following the best international practices and taking into account criteria of sustainability of public accounts throughout the cycle.

In addition, they request that the restrictions to the agreement of indebtedness operations by the local entities not incursed in the cases of the Law of Stability be abolished, and that the regulation of the replacement rate of the cash in the Local Administration be modified. so that it reaches 150% in the services of priority interest, and 100% in the rest of the municipal services.
