The Cabinet authorized the Autonomous Community of Murcia to conclude a long-term loan with European Investment Bank, amounting to 185 million euros for the financing of the project "Earthquake Reconstruction Lorca."
This loan is intended to address the damage caused by the earthquake on May 11, 2011, in particular, to finance the reconstruction and rehabilitation of buildings (residential, educational and cultural heritage) and roads affected by the earthquake .
The government awards contract for repairs to the church of the Shrine of the Convent of Santa María la Real de las Huertas Lorca
The Council of Ministers has taken account of emergency works in the church of the Shrine of the Convent of Santa María la Real de las Huertas in Lorca (Murcia).
They were awarded a total of 500,000 euros.
Emergency works are to stabilize the structure and eliminate the risk of breakage and collapse, thus ensuring perfect stability of the whole and keeping as much as possible the original features.
As a result of the earthquakes of May 2011 in Lorca, the church suffered major damage.
During that year there were two emergency actions, but the transept of the church continues presented a serious structural problem with imminent risk of collapse of the dome, due to the widespread deterioration of cracks, which have caused major landslides
