The Councillor for Education of the City of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, inaugurated this morning the school garden carried in the courtyard of San Fernando College for all students in this school.
Peñarrubia congratulated the leadership of this school for initiatives like this "that complement the traditional formal education with complementary activities that teach them knowledge of their environment, and this case, how a garden and from which the food."
Students of all San Fernando college courses in nine terraces planted 200 tomato plants, onion, garlic, herbs, among other products, to be cared for by the students themselves.
The aim of the school garden is to provide students with a series of rewarding experiences, rich and unique, serving as a resource to learn most of the curricula of Environmental Awareness.
All those lessons that are acquired in a practical, experiential and positive are never forgotten and are also the basis for installation in children positive attitudes and behaviors towards the environment.
