Teachers of France, Wales and Finland visit Lorca to learn directly about working in schools (27/05/2010)

This is an initiative that endorses the profile of our city as a hub of activities for teachers and university academics.

The CEIP José Robles participates this year for the second consecutive year as part of its Cultural Week

The Councillor for Education of the City of Lorca, José Joaquín Peñarrubia, has reported that the CEIP José Robles de Lorca participating for the second consecutive year in the European mobility program "Comenius", promoted by the Autonomous Agency for European Educational Programmes.

Peñarrubia noted that this program is to strengthen the European dimension in the field of early childhood education, primary and secondary schools, promoting mobility and cooperation between schools, and one of its phases is the exchange of teachers between participating countries to better understand the European dimension into the teaching process.

The specific objectives of Comenius are to encourage young people and educational staff knowledge and understanding of the diversity of European cultures and languages and the value of that diversity, as well as helping young people acquire basic skills for life and basic skills for personal development, future employment and active citizenship.

Peñarrubia said that over the next 28 and May 29 in the city will receive a group of professors from France, Wales and Finland.

During those days, and to let them know about our customs and city, from the CEIP José Robles were scheduled to hold a series of activities both inside and outside the school, among which are: a welcome center , with tours of the city, museums Steps White and Blue, "Lorca," Workshop of Time "and the town of Aguilas.

Councillor of Education has detailed the Comenius program supports the following decentralized managed by the National Agency:

- School partnerships between schools in order to develop joint educational projects for pupils and teachers.

- Training courses for teachers and other teachers to contribute to improving the quality of nursery, primary and secondary.

- Assistantships for future teachers of any material to better understand the European dimension into the teaching process.

- Preparatory visits for mobility in order to develop a school partnership.

- Comenius-Regio partnerships between local and regional institutions with responsibility for school education to promote interregional cooperation in Europe.

- Also supports the following centrally managed by the Executive Agency Education, Audiovisual and Culture.

- Multilateral projects to develop, promote and disseminate best practices in education, new methods and materials, as well as develop, promote and disseminate training courses for teachers.

- Multilateral Networks aimed at developing education in the discipline or subject area, for their own benefit and for education in a broader sense.

- Support measures to finance various activities ineligible under the different actions, but clearly aimed at achieving the objectives of Comenius and Lifelong Learning.
