Fulgencio Gil has highlighted the good functioning of a tool implemented within the municipal company with the aim of helping families in Lorca.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, reported that the City Council has decided to expand the Social Water Bonus (BSA), which this year increases from 350,000 euros to 450,000.
We are talking about an initiative that was launched in 2016 by the City Council and Hidrogea and through which it has served 942 families from Lorca with economic difficulties.
The Mayor said that as a result of the current economic crisis, in our municipality we find families who, due to their precarious economic situation, have great difficulties in coping with the payment of the water supply.
In order to help these families, the City of Lorca and the company Aguas de Lorca, signed at the beginning of 2016 the Social Fund Agreement, or Social Bono of Water (BSA), in order to collaborate with these families to deal with water and sewer bills.
The economic endowment of the BSA has been extended to meet the needs of vulnerable consumers that are determined by the municipal Social Services.
This area of ​​the Consistory, therefore, studies, analyzes and proposes the beneficiaries of the BSA.
Fulgencio Gil, who has been accompanied by the Manager of Water of Lorca, Antonio Franco, and by the Director of Concessions of Hidrogea, Javier Ybarra, has indicated that Aguas de Lorca also has subsidized rates for retirees and pensioners with incomes lower than minimum interprofessional salary, as well as for people with disabilities (with a disability greater than 33%) and that the family unit has an income below the minimum interprofessional salary.
There is also a discounted rate for large families.
For these groups (pensioners, handicapped and large families) the bonus of the water bill reaches 50% of the amount established in the general rate.
The procedure for the application will be the same, fill in the form that can be collected in the offices of Aguas de Lorca or on our website, register it together with a photocopy of ID in the Town Hall Registry, from there, Aguas de Lorca and Social Service they initiate the procedures to give a resolution to the user.
Once the proposal has been approved by the Local Government Board, the interested party and Aguas de Lorca are informed.
The main data included in the balance offered by this initiative indicate that during the years in which this Bond remains in force, 942 subscribers have been benefited, amounting to 200,916.27 euros, which translates into 3,524 invoices.
It should be noted that another battery of aid has also been granted that has not been materialized, for a total amount of almost 52,000 euros.
