Cala de Calnegre reissues the Blue Flag awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education consolidating the excellence of the beaches of Lorca (09/05/2018)

The Councilor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, announced that Calnegre Cove has reissued the Blue Flag award, consolidating the excellence of this Lorca beach.

Montiel stressed that "for the second year the Blue Flag will fly in the municipality of Lorca, demonstrating that its achievement was not the result of chance but the response to the quality of the coast and the work done to meet the necessary parameters for its concession by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) ".

The mayor has indicated that "from the Department of Tourism in June 2016 requested the mandatory visit by the inspectors.After the favorable report we launched a working committee to achieve final approval and improve the status of the cala, obtaining the Blue Flag for the first time in May 2017. Now this achievement is reissued after continuing to comply with the different parameters and quality standards and having developed the necessary information and environmental education activities. "

In this sense, the Councilor for Tourism has pointed out that "our cove has met the quality standards of bathing water, performing analysis every thirty days in bathing time and adding at least eight a year. -chemical to verify that the ph is in normal range, that there is no floating pollution and that there are no wastewater discharges.It is also necessary that the beach has a cleaning plan, have containers and selective waste collection, presence of qualified rescue equipment, first aid equipment and easy and safe accesses.In fact this year, and to increase the environmental protection of the park, improve the arrival and facilitate the work to the emergency service for any need, access will be made through bus, similar to how it is done in other bathing areas of environmental value in the Region such as Calblanque.

Spain has for this summer a total of 590 blue flags, 31 of them in the Region of Murcia.

This project emerged in the hands of the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 1985 in France, and began to spread across the continent with the support of the European Commission, although currently there are 49 countries around the world which participate in the project.
