The ediles of Izquierda Unida in Lorca, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martin, and the exconcejal of the formation and current coordinator of the same, José García Murcia, have taken stock this morning of the performances after the ill-fated earthquakes that affected Lorca seven years ago and that had as a more tragic consequence the loss of nine lives.
According to José García Murcia, we must avoid the triumphalist discourse made by the government team and stop distorting, since Lorca is still in the process of reconstruction and economic, social and emotional recovery.
As examples, residents of the San Fernando neighborhood have not yet been able to return to their homes, or the announced extension of the EIB loan that shows that the investments in the planned annuities have not been executed.
For García Murcia, the consensus that existed after the earthquakes considering that they were an opportunity to rebuild a new Lorca has not met the initial expectations, nor in the material aspects (expansion of the housing stock, transformation of the city, modernization and improvement of the urban mobility), or social aspects (citizen participation in decision-making, transparency, etc.).
And one of the most obvious evidence is the terrible management that has been done of the recovery of the historic center, which today still has no solution, despite the large investment that the EIB has meant.
For its part, the councilor Gloria Martin, again denounced that the paralysis in the procedure of verification of subsidies is due to a "pure electoral interest of the PP", which now, extemporaneously and without any sensitivity, "seeks to make cash at the cost of the anguish of hundreds of families. "
Martín said that "in Izquierda Unida we have been with those affected by this problem since the minute one" and recalled that they have already advised more than 300 families.
"We have proposed initiatives in the Municipal Plenary, in the regional Assembly or in the Congress of Deputies, we have been waiting 80 days for a response from the Government of Rajoy to the questions that we have raised through a parliamentary question," he explained.
"We have tried to give encouragement and voice to our neighbors, and we will be with them until the end" said Martin, who announced that before the "inaction of the Mayor", this morning they have sent a complaint to the Ombudsman to shed light on the issue of the prescriptions.
Finally, for Pedro Sosa the story that the PP is selling that Lorca is already well, is far from reality, as can be witnessed by the 200 families of the San Fernando neighborhood, some of which still live in makeshift barracks.
Other noteworthy aspects are that 35% of the works are about to be completed or the seven million euros that have not yet been transferred from the Autonomous Community to Lorca to pay the companies that carry out the remodeling works, which encourages us to think that they are being used in other tasks, as they have done in previous years, fixing roads in other municipalities.
In addition, the construction of the Barrios Altos road and the Palace of Justice are still pending.
But one of the most noteworthy aspects of the farce of the triumphalist speech of the PP for Sosa, is the bad execution in the works of reconstruction and remodeling, which can give a good account in the innumerable complaints expressed in social networks after the four drops falls these days and by neighborhood associations that have seen as in some cases, more than an improvement have been true headaches, such as loss of parking spaces they had or shaded areas, because although it was scarce the trees in our city, now it is much less.
