IU-v report unjustifiable deficiencies in the Barranco Hondo waste plant (21/05/2018)

The spokesman of the Municipal Group of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, appeared this morning before the media to convey to the public a complaint that the workers of the Waste Plant of Barranco Hondo have given him and which consists of the shortcomings of potable water that exists in these facilities, nourished through a well and deposits that are filled by tankers.

Sometimes the plant runs out of water and, ultimately, those who suffer the consequences of this deficiency are the workers and workers of a service that, as anyone can imagine, has elements of unhealthiness and toxicity that require more than any other. timely provision of drinking water.

On many occasions, Pedro Sosa points out, the workers have had to go to their homes without being able to wash beforehand.

Despite the remoteness of this plant with the supply network of Lorca, the cost to provide it with the timely supply of drinking water would move around 100,000 euros.

It is not a whim, says the councilman, among other things because the Plant, as is known, is also used by the Disinfection Center of Livestock Vehicles, and the current European and regional regulations on this type of centers require clarity the timely installation of hot and cold running water with certain equipment and with sufficient flow.

It is incomprehensible that in a plant on which an investment of about 6 million euros has recently been made, the standardization of a deficiency such as that indicated has not been contemplated.

Sosa also abounds in the seriousness of this deficiency pointing out that the spread of diseases in livestock -like swine fever- has occurred on many occasions as a result of a poor cleaning of livestock vehicles, and that the livestock sector Lorca does not deserve the administration makes available to them a plant with these serious deficiencies.

The Spokesman of IU-V announces that it will require the local government to explain these shortcomings and the reasons why the recent investment has not contemplated this end, and that this competent deficiency will be passed on to the competent regional administration to investigate whether the center disinfection of Lorca meets the appropriate conditions for proper provision of the service.
